Benefice Vacancy:  At the time of writing, an offer of the post has been made to a candidate interviewed on 13th September, which has been accepted.  This will now go to the Bishop and Archbishop for approval, then an official announcement will be made. We are grateful for all the help received especially from Stephen and Sheila Tooke during this long difficult time.

Building Works:  The PCC have decided to go ahead with altering the West End of the church at a cost of £35,000.00 plus VAT.  The West End continues to be a useful area to the community with approx 8¼ hours per week usage.

A laser photocopier has been donated for the use of the villagers at a small donation to cover cost of paper & ink.

Allotments

There have been enquiries in the past asking the Parish Council to provide allotments for the villagers.  The Allotment Association Area Manager attended the council meeting in July to explain and guide the council how to carry out this task.  The next step is for the council to enquire about and to carry out the legalities.  There were an number of interested people attended to hear the advise given and are to form themselves into an allotment group.

Wimblington & Stonea Twinning

It has been decided that Wierzbie school will bring the Polish children over in February 2008 due to the fact that there money was only available until then.

They will bring 10 children and 2/3 adults, their money covering their air fare and travel in this country also admission tickets.

The visit will cover 7 days – 2 of which would be travelling, 5 sightseeing.

Places to see could include London, York, Cambridge or Norwich with 2 days resting with local visiting.

However

October 26th - 29th we are invited by Morazzone, Italy to take up to 50 people to spend the weekend with them.  So far we have 21 air tickets definitely booked with others seriously thinking about it.  We do advise booking tickets as early as possible to obtain them as cheaply as possible.  Stansted to Milan Bergamo has cost £65.98 return each.

Circle Anglia

Circle Anglia is the name of the headquarters who are taking over the council housing stock under the name of Roddens.  They will also be taking on all the sheltered housing which in turn effects Witchford Lodge and the Wimblington Community Support Scheme.
